Pope, Yunus launch ‘3Zero Club’ to promote sustainability

Pope Francis and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus have jointly launched the “Pope Francis Yunus 3Zero Club” in Rome, aimed at addressing poverty, unemployment, and climate change while fostering a more inclusive society.
The “3Zero Club” seeks to inspire youth, particularly in marginalised communities, to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for global challenges.
The global reach of the 3Zero initiative is significant, with more than 4,600 clubs already established worldwide, many within universities, inspired by Yunus’s vision of a fair and sustainable society.
In a letter to the vicar general of Rome, Cardinal Baldo Reina, Yunus said that he was deeply honoured by the gesture.
He extended his “heartfelt congratulations” to Cardinal Reina on the occasion, the chief adviser’s press wing said today.
“This remarkable initiative embodies the shared vision of His Holiness Pope Francis and my own aspirations for a transformative and inclusive future,” Yunus wrote.
He emphasised that the 3Zero Club’s goals –achieving zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions — reflect a commitment to equity, sustainability, and compassion.
Citing Pope Francis’s encyclical Fratelli tutti, Yunus highlighted the importance of unity and shared responsibility in creating a “civilization where no one is left behind.”
The club also aims to empower young leaders by nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit and fostering projects that drive meaningful change.
“Inspired by Pope Francis’s unwavering commitment to social justice and my belief in the power of social business, the 3Zero Club encourages young minds to envision and implement projects that transform communities,” Yunus said.
Both leaders called on global communities to support the initiative, emphasising the need for collective action to build a world that honours human dignity and protects the planet.
